Sounds Arthurian. I designed this as a counterpoint to fit the alcove. It has four legs, but I have made several of these, one with five legs. Why not? How many tables have five legs? Have you ever thought of this before? I guess I spend a lot of time by myself in a shop with four legged tables.
Anyways, occasionally I phone the lumberyard, I just ask and see what they send, and am sometimes rewarded, as in this case with an 18" wide 2" thick curly maple slab. I went with curly maple to echo the water just outside the windows.
